Our latest home renovation has a special meaning for Brian and myself.
Ms. Dorothy, or “Duke” as she was called by her family, was part of our church family until she joined the saints of Glory last year. This was “Duke’s” home!
She actually lived right outside our old neighborhood in the Wesley Chapel area and for many years we didn’t even realize she was so close. This home was where she and her late husband, Bill, built their little piece of heaven on his family land.
I love when a home has a story. Every home does, it’s just rare we get to know part of it.
Dorothy’s family gave us the opportunity to bring new life to her home and prepare it for another family to enjoy after renovating.
Here is the after:
Yes, that’s the same house!
before – in summer
after – in winter
Let’s take a look inside!
Here was the living room before:
And after:
Oh, yes! Same house, y’all!

The dining room before:

We just love how bright and open this house turned out!
Now, let’s move on to the kitchen before:
And now, after:
Yes, yes, YES! Have I mentioned how much I love bringing new life to homes??

That’s even her kitchen faucet – it was so beautiful we decided to keep it as part of the design.
We’ll continue with part 2 of Ms. Dorothy’s house next week on #makeovermonday!
