#shareitsaturday / Christmas doesn’t just happen

the daily Starr share it saturday

This little piece of wisdom on Instagram from my friend Lisa Allen hit home tonight in the midst of my own it’s-3-days-’til-Christmas craziness.

“Christmas doesn’t just happen.  You have to make it.  I’ve told my kids that as they’ve gotten older.  Any mom knows that Christmas takes work.  But making Christmas happen isn’t just about shopping, wrapping, baking and entertaining.  Working at making Christmas is working on my heart to accept what each Christmas brings to me.  It means seeing people the way Jesus sees them, not the way I would want them to be.  It means serving beyond clearing dishes … serving by extending a conversation or holding your tongue with a grumpy sales clerk.  It means rocking a tired toddler having a meltdown.  It means letting go of perfection.  It means overlooking an offense and not getting your way.  It means whatever God has laid upon your heart that will help bring “peace to men on earth” for your little world.  Sit and listen to Jesus today.  Soak Him in then go make Christmas happen!” – Lisa Allen via Instagram

Yes and amen! Thank you for reminding me always of what’s most important, Lisa.

Sit and listen to Jesus today. And tomorrow. And the next.
