#thirstythursday / for those who sow tears

the daily Starr thirsty thursday

Those who sow tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them. Psalm 126:5-6

For those who sow tears…

God sees every single one.

Tears have a meaning for me these days.

I’ve always remembered how an author friend says to pay attention to our tears.

So what? Why does it matter what makes you cry or tear up? Maybe it just means you’re overly emotional, sappy, too sensitive. Maybe. Or maybe our tears are tiny messengers, secret keepers of the most vulnerable kind, sent to deliver a most important message – Here is where your heart beats strong. Here is a hint to your design. Here is a gift from your inner life, sent to remind you those things that make you come alive.

Change in the world comes when we acknowledge what moves us and why. When we don’t try to ignore the art and the desire, rather listen to it and live fully in it. So what are some things for you? What makes you tear up?

Emily P. Freeman

Listen to the tears.

Whatever it is that causes you to sow tears now, remember God’s Word and that it never returns void. Remember that those very tears will reap songs of joy.

Joy comes in the morning, friends.

  1. I read one time that tears are expressing what we cant put into words. Its also a cathartic process. It is definitely a season of tears for me. My Mother is beginning symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease. My only Brother passed away in 2011. I miss him so much and the Mother thar was. She is but a shell of the one who raised me. Its hard as being a Nurse I know what is coming. I covet your prayers as it is just me to take over her affairs. Much Love Starr. Gina

    1. Oh, Gina. Sweet friend. I will keep you and your mom in my prayers as you walk this season. We have several ladies in our church going through the same exact situation and taking care of their aging mothers with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. I’m asking God to give you extraordinary strength and peace every single day. That it would rain down on you like manna from above. Love and prayers, friend.

  2. I tear up and cry if someone else is crying. They can be crying tears of joy, sadness, sorrow, or despair and I cry right along with them. I used to feel so embarrassed about it, but now as I’ve gotten older I realize that those tears come from the compassion that God has given me for others.
