#1wordwednesday / {QUESTION} of the day – what verse do you want to memorize?

the daily Starr blog Starr haigler 8

Tonight we’re back at our Question of the Day book!

Question of the Day by Harvest House

Today’s question:

What verse do you want to memorize?

Our answers:

Kylie – she wanted a Christmas verse, so we picked Luke 2:6-7 (TLB)

6 And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born; 7 and she gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the village inn.

Kayla – she immediately selected a verse she’d been reading in her personal Bible over and over that talks about Jesus teaching. John 8:20 NIV

20 He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.

Brock – we decided to give him a verse from the very beginning of the Bible. Genesis 1:1 NIV

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Starr – our Sunday School class has been studying the Beatitudes and I would like to memorize these teachings from Jesus and the Sermon on the Mount. Matthew 5:3-12 NIV

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
    for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
    for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Brian – he copied me 😉

I promised the kiddos we would make index cards with their verses to tape to their walls tomorrow. We did this at our previous house and it was one of their favorite things to look at each night before bed.

How about you? What verse do you want to memorize?

  1. I have been doing “Sweet Blessing” where there is a Bible verse per week. This week it is: The LORD Himself goes before you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.
    Deuteronomy 31:8
