#thirstythursday / courage – something for other people?

the daily Starr thirsty thursday

Most days courage seems like something for other people, not me.

Strength in the face of pain or grief? That’s not exactly easy to live out.

I’m reminded tonight in the midst of the pain and grief this life so easily gives, to take courage, my soul.

Yes, I will praise Him again. I will praise Him for His help – even so. His ways are not my ways. His plan is not like mine, that’s so obvious.

Psalm 42:4-5 The Living Bible (TLB)

Take courage, my soul! Do you remember those times (but how could you ever forget them!) when you led a great procession to the Temple on festival days, singing with joy, praising the Lord? Why then be downcast? Why be discouraged and sad? Hope in God! I shall yet praise him again. Yes, I shall again praise him for his help.

Psalm 42:4-5 The Message (MSG)

These are the things I go over and over,
emptying out the pockets of my life.
I was always at the head of the worshiping crowd,
    right out in front,
Leading them all,
    eager to arrive and worship,
Shouting praises, singing thanksgiving—
celebrating, all of us, God’s feast!

Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul?
Why are you crying the blues?
Fix my eyes on God—
    soon I’ll be praising again.
He puts a smile on my face.
    He’s my God.

Isaiah 55:8-9 Living Bible (TLB)

This plan of mine is not what you would work out, neither are my thoughts the same as yours! For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than yours, and my thoughts than yours.

This song has been on my mind for the past several days and I hope it encourages your heart as much as it does mine.

Slow down, take time
Breath in He said
He’d reveal what’s to come
The thoughts in His mind
Always higher than mine
He’ll reveal all to come
Take courage my heart
Stay steadfast my soul
He’s in the waiting
He’s in the waiting
Hold onto your hope
As your triumph unfolds
He’s never failing
He’s never failing
