We’re ready for the massive storm that is slowly approaching our area tonight. They are calling for the rain to begin and not end until Monday or Tuesday. We could have upwards of 10 inches before it’s done.
Don’t worry! The Haiglers have hunkered down and we’re ready to spend a weekend at home inside. I have plenty of projects to be completed, lol.
The first line of storms came through earlier this evening and it came with downpours and sideways rain blowing the trees. A lovely indicator of what is to come, for sure.
After that line of storms passed, this brilliant show came through the skies as we watched the sunset.
WOW!
Meanwhile, we enjoyed heading outside to play in the windy breeze. It felt like we were sitting next to an ocean breeze – certainly not normal for our area of sticky, humid NC.
Grammy helped us make a pre-storm surprise – strawberry shortcake!
I remember having this so often as a little girl and it is one of my favorite quick and easy desserts.
3 ingredients – angel food cake, strawberries, and milk.
Optional – you can add sugar. My kids have had more than enough sugar already today so I skipped out on that for tonight. HA!
We use Flaxmilk because Brock is sensitive to dairy. This brand is our favorite! You can find it at Harris Teeter, Publix, and Walmart.
Add all of the ingredients in a bowl and serve it up!
Summer yumminess in a bowl.
Kylie and Brock didn’t like the angel food cake. They are CRAZY.
I loved it, every single bite.
Now we’re all home, everyone is showered and it’s time to sleep late on a rainy Saturday morning. YESSSSS!!!

First time I’ve slept past 7a on a Saturday in ages. God has a way of slowing us down.
