I didn’t expect to be here.
I didn’t expect to be the teacher.
I didn’t expect to sit at home all week with a timer reminding him to potty every 15 minutes.
I didn’t expect to see the excitement in their faces this way – in a new light, I’ve missed so many days before.
I didn’t expect to be here on the front porch watching our new life unfold before my very eyes.
This is not at all what I expected. In a million years.
But maybe, just maybe,
it’s exactly what I needed.
My mind drifted to the words of Paul tonight on this #thirstythursday –
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. – Ephesians 4:1 NIV
A life worthy of the calling you have received…
Maybe this is my calling. Maybe this is the season God set aside to change me.
It isn’t at all what I expected, but I’m willing to live out this calling – in the midst of it all.
God, tonight my prayer is to take me places I’ve never been. Draw me closer to You. Let me hear Your thoughts, Your ways, Your plans. Let me abide. Help me let go of all my expectations in place of Yours.
