Where is my {GAZE} fixed today?
It would be nice if I were sitting on the beach gazing out to sea. All my worries behind me drowned out by the sound of endless crashing waves.
Ahhh, that would be nice, right?!?!?
Instead, I’m currently looking at real life. Dirty laundry. A to-do list that doesn’t end. Kids arguing and making messes faster than I can clean them up again.
Troubles? Yep. I’ve got ’em. There are plenty of those these days. It doesn’t take much to see them all plainly around me.
Am I gazing at what I can see?
Or am I looking to the future that is ahead, which cannot actually be seen?
It might seem like a crazy thing to do – don’t pay attention to all the chaos happening around you. Instead look for the light at the end of the tunnel, when you’re still standing in the darkness.
I know, I know.
What is a {GAZE} anyway?
What are we looking steadily to? What do we admire?
There are two choices given in 2 Corinthians 4:18 – troubles or Jesus.
I’d rather have Jesus, y’all. I’ll gladly leave the troubles far behind.
Tonight on this #1wordwednesday I’m adjusting my {GAZE} to Him.
