#trashouttuesday / 2 things we’re saying goodbye to in our home

the daily Starr trash out tuesday

Several years ago my favorite blogger, The Nestertalked about Three Weird Reasons My House Looks Better Than Yours Online – and I’ve never been able to forget this post.

2 of those weird reasons?

She removed her blinds and screens on the windows.

{GASP}.

Yes, she sure did.

I’ve secretly wanted to tear out each set of blinds in my home ever since.

Now that we’ve moved into the cottage – I’m determined to get rid of the blinds FOREVER.

Here is our living room before we moved in.

Yep. Dark walls, blinds, screens, curtains. We had it all! Plus one dining room chandelier.

Since moving in, we’ve been updating a few items to make it brighter. First, Brian added the shiplap to the fireplace and we changed out the dining room chandelier for a ceiling fan, plus added recessed lighting to make it brighter.

We took down the curtains, and I’ve been pulling those heavy blinds up each day to let the light soak in. One almost fell out of the bracket and knocked me out so I’ve been nagging Brian to bring them down completely. Also to run that one annoying cord behind the TV into the wall.

Taking down the blinds and screens INSTANTLY changed our room. This girl is happy, happy, happy!

The paint even looks lighter now. Oh yes!!! And we even have a mama deer and baby deer hanging out beside our house, y’all!!!! We never had that in our old neighborhood, lol.

I’m beginning to fall in love with our little cottage in the country.

Oh, and we’re keeping the screens in the garage in case you’re wondering. If we want to open the windows in the spring or fall, we’ll just add the screens in to keep the bugs out.
