Here’s the thing – if our stuff was boxed up for a month and we made it without using most of the items…
WE PROBABLY DON’T REALLY NEED IT!
Amen to the amen.
One area we’re drastically downsizing in our cottage is the kitchen. We have less than half of the space we had in our previous house.
Here’s the comparison for ya:
Oh, how I miss our kitchen. Just being honest. The kitchen in our cottage is about the same size as our first home. It’s cozy and perfect for us, it just takes a little bit of adjusting. And this homegirl packed those walls of cabinets in our previous house the past 12 years, let me tell you!!
I decided before we moved to store a lot of our kitchen items that we don’t use every day in the garage until we move into our new house next year.
Also, some items we’re saving to stock our cottages on the property for families to use when they visit, so we do have a good reason for storing things! I know some of you were thinking bad thoughts of me about storing stuff in the garage. I have a plan, people!!
Then, I found myself not having room for the items I thought we could fit into our cottage.
This stuff has nowhere to go. Multiply this stack by about 5, and we just don’t have room.
After unpacking alllll the things, here is what we have room for when it comes to basic dishes.
We can do this. Plates, bowls, glasses, saucers. We’ll be fiiinnnneee. If you come to visit, we’ll break out the paper plates, hahah! Oh wait, I don’t have anywhere to put paper plates either! Those are going to a closet upstairs.
The boxes have been unpacked and the cabinets are full.
This is less and this feels right.
God is continually tugging at my heart when it comes to our stuff. With every box I unpack, I know we have so much more to purge.
He has a plan and this is all part of the process He is using to shape me into something new. I’m so thankful. And maybe a little whiney some days.
Also, this is me when Brian wants to throw something out:
Here’s to living with less on this #trashouttuesday, friends!
