to my sister on your graduation day

Oh, Joy.

This photo above captures everything we’re all feeling today. We couldn’t be more proud of the young lady you’ve become! What an incredible joy to be part of your life.

You’ll always remember this day. Oh, and the words from your graduation speaker – they were true.

You will never step into the river twice.

The river will always change.
And, so will you.

Walking across that stage tonight was a significant milestone and a step into a beautiful new chapter.

Today begins the rest of your life.

You will be making more choices.
You will have more responsibility than you’ve ever known.
It will be wonderful and scary at the same time.

You’ve already shown us you’re ready.

And now it’s time to spread your wings and fly beautiful one.

Remember God. Remember family (that means me). Remember that we’re a Facetime call away, no matter what.

Dream big dreams. Do the impossible. And shine bright wherever the river takes you.

We love you, Joy.

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. – Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV

Congratulations to the class of 2018!

  1. Remember she has a “like family” here if she finds she misses or just needs family time. Our door is our & is intended to be a home away from home for our college kids. Looking forward to meeting you, Joy.
And Starr (as well as your parents) , I’m just a call away if she needs home cooking & is afraid to ask, local information, is sick and needs care, or a place to just be.

    1. April, thank you much! It is so comforting to know she will have so many good friends watching out for her!
