One week from today – we’re moving!!!! That statement still doesn’t seem real.
So many of you have asked what’s going on and where we are moving and when…so here goes!
The original property we purchased a few months ago included 22 acres and 1 existing residential home.
That’s the home (up above) we renovated over the past month for mom and dad. They moved in a few weeks ago and are so excited to be living on the property.
We will be building a new home for our family to live in directly beside mom and dad and hope to begin construction within the next few months. It won’t be ready until early 2019. This is the home we’re going to build (and also the reason I’m painting the brick white at mom and dad’s house..hahaha):
Meanwhile – as we worked through the required rezoning process with the Town of Mint Hill for our property over the past 9 months, we found out some of our adjoining neighbors were interested in selling their home.
Fast forward to now – we have an agreed upon contract to purchase their home and 2 additional acres to add to our property. We close this Friday!! Wooohooo!!
What does this mean?
#1 – Our family will be moving next week into this home temporarily while our new construction is being built. This will allow us to be closer to the property (we’re about 30 minutes away currently and, y’all – that drive is getting OLD).
#2 – Once we move out next year, this home will undergo renovations and will officially become the first Cottage at the Old Haigler Inn for guest accommodations! YAYYYYYYYY!!!
We expect for this cottage to be operational by summer 2019 and should open around the same time as our Gathering House and Annex – which will be located right next door to this home.
The Cottage, Gathering House, and Annex will all be Phase 1 of our property development. More to come as we get closer to approvals and groundbreaking.
Timelines are CRAZY and we’re at the mercy of engineers and architects and designers and permitting and reviews. The list just keeps going and going and going. Nothing happens fast, that is for sure.
All I know is we have 6 days left to pack up 12 years of memories. Also, I have a new found compassion for people that have moved with 3 kids and 10+ years of stuff.
