#slowitdownSunday / I felt underqualified and overwhelmed…

the daily Starr slow it down Sunday

Tonight I picked up one of my all-time favorite devotionals for some much-needed inspiration to #slowitdownSunday.

Draw the Circle: The 40 Day Prayer Challenge by Mark Batterson

I felt underqualified and overwhelmed, which put me right where God wanted me. It is how we learn to live in raw dependence, and raw dependence is the raw material out of which God performs His greatest miracles. – Mark Batterson, Draw the Circle

Yes.

You’re in good company if you’re currently feeling underqualified and overwhelmed. Could it be that this is EXACTLY where God wants us???

Each day I’m reminded of how true this is in my own life. There are so many moments where I don’t measure up and I don’t meet my own expectations or the needs of those around me.

I simply can’t do this life in my own strength. I fail miserably. And often.

In these raw moments of failure and brokenness, I’m forced to draw closer to the One who made me, the One who cares for me, the One who loves me – just as I am.

Failures. Brokenness. Selfishness. Stubbornness. And pretty much anything else you can add to this list.

He draws us in and reminds us that His ways are higher.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9 ESV
