#makeovermonday / behind the scenes – designing a bathroom makeover

the daily Starr makeover monday blog

Here is the before of mom and dad’s hall bath in the home we’re currently renovating.

And here is the inspiration for the after which is currently in progress!

Let’s break it all down –

For the flooring, we’ve selected a completely waterproof vinyl laminate plank that looks just like hardwoods. The brand is Nucore from Floor & Decor. We love this option because it’s perfect for baths and still gives the look of hardwood. Also, the lifetime warranty is a good thing!

They sell sample pieces of the flooring for $5 and we brought these home to try out since we’re matching some existing flooring in another room. NOTE: you should always bring samples home. These floor pieces looked 10 times darker in the house than they did on the showroom floor with the bright lighting.

Mom and Dad ended up selecting the one that matched closest to the existing floors. It is Nucore Gunstock Plank.

Next, we selected White Galaxy granite – mainly because the granite place had a huge remnant that worked for both of the baths and we got an excellent price!

The granite has already been installed and I’m so in love. We went with the smaller rectangle sinks and they are my favorite.

These photos make it appear much darker than reality. I’ll have updates soon once the painting is completed.

Speaking of painting – we went with Benjamin Moore Gray Huskie for the cabinet, Benjamin Moore Classic Gray for the walls, and Benjamin Moore Simply White for the trim. All of this is in progress as we speak, so I’ll have an update soon! I can’t WAIT to see these colors come to life and brighten up this bathroom.

Benjamin Moore Gray Huskie – cabinet color

Benjamin Moore Simply White – trim color and shiplap wall

Benjamin Moore Classic Gray – wall color

Moving on to the fixtures – we selected these beautiful chrome faucets from Lowe’s for only $54!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

I especially love that they have a European feel and will stay classic through styles and trends. The price tag is budget friendly, and Brian loves that most!

We’re adding a wide shiplap to the wall behind the vanity and updating the mirrors and lighting – simply painting those – possibly black or gold. I haven’t yet decided 🙂

Stay tuned! This makeover should be complete soon.
