#slowitdownSunday / rid me of myself

the daily Starr slow it down Sunday

We sang these words today at church and they hit me hard:

Lead me to the cross
Where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees
Lord I lay me down
Rid me of myself
I belong to You
Lead me, lead me to the cross

As long as I’m filling my schedule, my heart, my hours with ME, ME, ME – I am just that, full of myself.

And let’s just admit that no one likes hanging around with a self-centered person. Even when that person is YOU.

Tonight my heart is longing to lay me down and rid me of myself.

I want to be emptied so that He can fill me and overflow in everything I do, everything I say and everywhere I go.

Savior I come
Quiet my soul remember
Redemption’s hill
Where Your blood was spilled
For my ransom
Everything I once held dear
I count it all as loss

Those things I once held dear – help me see how they are nothing compared to You. Quiet my soul. Help me remember.

  1. I am reading this today as I’ve been busy with a teething baby and so tired! But yes!! This is my cry, my prayer to rid myself of myself! Lay it all down and give myself to god completely. I’ve been struggling to put him first lately and I want To do better. Thank you for this today!

    • You’re so welcome, friend. We all have those tough days. It’s easy to get busy and let God take a back seat – I speak from experience. He is so faithful to remind us of His goodness!!!
