A friend shared an article last night and I wish I could stand and shout every single word from the rooftop.
This opening paragraph grabbed my attention:
I’m slowly learning that I don’t have to hurt those who hurt me. I’m slowly learning that maybe the ultimate sign of maturity is walking away instead of getting even. I’m slowly learning that the energy it takes to react to every bad thing that happens to you drains you and stops you from seeing the other good things in life. I’m slowly learning that I’m not going to be everyone’s cup of tea and I won’t be able to get everyone to treat me the way I want to be treated and that’s okay. I’m slowly learning that trying so hard to ‘win’ anyone is just a waste of time and energy and it fills you with nothing but emptiness. – Rania Naim via thoughtcatalog.com
You can read the full article here (it takes less than 2 minutes, super short and to the point).
Also – I don’t need more drama.
These boots were made for walkin’…
AMEN to that.
This scripture gives us freedom to walk away from ALL the drama:
13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another. - Galatians 5:13-15 ESV
Freedom to serve through love.
Freedom to love our neighbors as ourselves.
NOT to bite and devour one another and be consumed by all the drama around us.
God, help me to be a source of joy and happiness to others – help them to see a reflection of You in all that I do. Your love. Your joy. Your peace. Your servanthood. Less of me getting even and getting my own way just because I feel the need to be right. More of me finding my maturity in You and knowing when to walk away.
