#trashouttuesday / spring cleaning is of the devil

the daily Starr trash out tuesday

You may wonder how it’s going with my Spring Cleaning challenge??

This.

This is how it’s going…

Pretty much our entire upstairs looks like this currently –

I made the mistake of having Brian bring down ALL OF THE BINS from the attic last week. This is the result. Clothes everywhere. I should clarify – we do still have baby clothes up there that I desperately need to go through. That’s another project for another month, haha!

Don’t think for a moment that we buy all this stuff – y’all – it’s ALL HAND-ME-DOWNS.

Thank you, Jesus! I don’t want to take this blessing for granted. I also don’t want to continue keeping this stuff because it is ridiculousness.

Previously (as in the past 10 years), I kept EVERYTHING that was passed along to us. As soon as a child outgrew their clothes, we boxed them up and sent them to the attic for the next child.

I realized about a year ago we could no longer continue to do this. The bins in the attic were taking over.

So now when kids outgrow their clothes, I go through them and keep only what we love. Everything else gets passed along to friends and family.

YAYYYY!!

Today’s project involved everyone.

Joy kept helping me with ALL the piles. She even had a smile on her face!

Kylie and Chloe went through all of Kylie’s pajamas and boxed up the small ones to be passed down to friends.

Kayla went through her clothes, too!

I gotta be honest. Our upstairs is a walking disaster. I have no wonderful transformation photos to show you tonight.

All I have is a work in progress that will feel great when we get all of these clothes out of here.

This work doesn’t come naturally for me, thus my thinking that spring cleaning is surely of the devil ;).

I knew these last two weeks of my spring cleaning challenge would be the hardest and that is why I saved them. I needed to have wins in other areas of our home to motivate me to push through the bedrooms and closets.

Week 1: Living Room and Kitchen (DONE)
Week 2: Office and Dining Room (DONE)
Week 3: Kid’s Bedrooms and Playrooms – in progress
Week 4: Master Bedroom and Closet – up next!

We’ll finish up this week with our Master Bedroom and closet – I’m sure we’ll have more entertainment coming your way soon.
