People ask me one question over and over and over…
“How do you do it all, Starr?”
Here’s the secret.
We’re all looking for that magic easy button or that dream job or that perfect relationship or that new house or that well-behaved child. We think if we could just change and get that right, then life would be easier and I could do it all.
That’s a BIG FAT LIE. Yet, we all keep looking for that thing to be able to fix me.
Believe me, I know. I’m guilty. I’ve asked that EXACT same question to seemingly successful people myself.
Maybe you see the fun side of our family, but you don’t see the many frustrations that happen every day.
You also don’t see when I’m sitting here at 2:38am working because I procrastinated on something that couldn’t be put off any longer. Ahhhgghhh.
Friends, no one does it all. It may appear that way, but let me assure you – it isn’t possible.
I have more to say on this topic, but for now on this #slowitdownSunday please know that we all have our struggles and our shortcomings. You are not alone and you are not the only one that can’t keep up.
The grass is not greener on the other side and life is never perfect.
I don’t want to be known as the girl that’s always busy. That’s no way to live life. I’m ready to start a fresh chapter that is slow, meaningful and different than the whirlwind I’ve lived for the past 10 years.
This verse just jumped out at me tonight:
25 "Slow down. Take a deep breath. What's the hurry? Why wear yourself out? Just what are you after anyway? But you say, 'I can't help it. I'm addicted to alien gods. I can't quit.' - Jeremiah 2:25 The Message
Do you see that?
I’m busy. I’m addicted. And I can’t even quit.
Anybody else ever felt that way?? I sure have.
What do we do?
We slow down.
We evaluate what matters most.
We change our habits.
And we beg God to help us get out of this addiction to being busy.
Only He alone can truly take our human failures and make something beautiful out of this mess we’ve made. Lord, do that in me tonight.
My apologies for sending this email so late tonight. The Lord completely changed my path of writing and I’m #preachingtomyown heart here.
