#funfriday / the forgotten joy of our family memories

the daily Starr fun friday

Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten. – David Ogden Stiers

That’s my mom holding me as we visit my grandparent’s (dad’s parents – Willie and Glennie the Great) home for the first time – I was about a week old!

My #funfriday has been spent sorting through and organizing memories that have shaped my lifetime. Sitting here flipping through the stacks of photos, I’ve been overwhelmed with emotions.

A rare photo of both of my grandmothers – Glennie the Great and Eunice – 1978.

This photo is my great-grandmother, Lillie Kelly, and my grandfather’s brother, Leonard Kelly.

This is Glennie the Great working in the kitchen while Willie eats at the table – the one that sits in our breakfast area today!

Wow. These are the faces of the people in my family tree.

I don’t stop enough to look back.

Part of my day has been spent making my Kylie a book about her life. This is the day we told our family we were having another baby.

Gosh, that makes me want to have another baby!!!! I’m slightly kidding.

How I’ve enjoyed this day. I didn’t realize how much I need this – I needed to be reminded. I needed to see the love we carry.

And our kiddos are creating their own memories with Aunt Jenny tonight.

Kayla was Cat in the Hat for Character Day at school today.

  1. Thanks for sharing these photos. I knew all of your family. Grew up with them on the Mill Hill. And attended The Church of God where your grandpa led the choir and Leonard played the organ I think. They look just like I remember them. I’ve been to your great grandma’s house many times. Baby sat for Julie and Barry while I was in High School. Love Wayne and Linda and Betty Jo. And don’t forget sweet Mary Ruth one of my mom’s friends. Love all the Kelly family! Great memories of a great Christian family who loved the Lord.
