We’ve always had a bathroom clutter problem. I should rephrase that – I’ve always had a bathroom clutter problem. On any given day, this was the situation.
A counter full of products and bags and bins on the floor. Totally all my fault, 100%.
On January 1, we started our nightly family projects and the kiddos helped me get it cleared and put away.
I’m proud to tell you that our bathroom countertop has stayed cleared and clean for almost two months!!! Wooooohooo!!
A big part of our accomplishment to keep the bathroom clean has been to utilize this cabinet we found at Costco last fall. And this is the part when I admit that it sat in our bathroom completely unused for almost 3 months…oh goodness.
Everything has a spot. This one drawer has been my saving grace – it has all of our everyday items together -toothbrushes, skincare, and all my daily makeup in a ziplock bag.
Below the drawer, I have a bin with all of my haircare tools – dryers, irons, brushes, etc.
The bin above the drawer keeps all of my bathroom products in one place.
Up on top, I have two baskets – one with bath salts and scrubs and one with bathroom cleaning supplies.
Lastly, I utilized the cubbies below to store other necessary items we keep in the bathroom.
I am in love with this cabinet!! And just for the full effect, here is a shot with ALL of the countertop area, just so you know I’m not hiding anything haha!
Here’s looking towards the bathtub.
Btw, all of those cards/notes on our wall above the toilet and on the mirror? I have a plan to make those pretty too – stay tuned!
Now that brings us around to the un-pretty area of our bathroom that has always bothered me because I knew it had potential.
A window and a shelf. The shelf has toys and towels and a few other random items that have collected in the past few days. And one decoration of glass balls that were VERY dusty.
I’ve always wanted curtains, and I’m not sure why I’ve waited 11 years…
Ahhh, so much better!!
Now I feel like our bathroom has the beauty it’s always lacked!! I feel like I could be pampered in this spot for sure – an instant change that softens the entire room!
One more secret to keeping our bathroom clean? I have made it a habit to vacuum the floor several times a week. Somehow having a clean and freshly vacuumed floor changes my perspective about our bathroom. It makes me want to keep the entire space clean and beautiful.
This bathroom not only feels fabulous, it has the functionality we need in the space for storage.
Yay for #makeovermonday!
