Several weeks ago a blog reader told me she wanted to paint her front door.
Y’all know I LOVE any opportunity to talk about painting!! In our conversation she mentioned that she wanted a color like I painted our front door last year:
The color is Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue.
The color is mixed at Lowe’s into my all time favorite paint – Valspar All-Weather Exterior Primer/Sealer. I use this paint on everything. Furniture. Doors. Lamps. Whatever! It’s my go-to paint.
This paint is $20 a can straight off the shelf at Lowe’s.
The paint people always look at me funny when I ask them to mix a color directly into the primer. If they do this to you, just tell them you know what you’re doing 😉
Here is my friend’s door before:
Look at that beautiful snow! This is the only shot she had on hand. Her door is a basic white from the builder.
And now – after:
What a gorgeous transformation!!
I also shared with her how I painted benches to sit beside my door and I loved how it pulled in the color of the door. She painted those flower pots beside her door from a dark grey to the same blue as the door.
You too can paint your front door, friend!
If you’re looking for color inspiration, Pinterest is always a good place to start. I keep a board for paint colors and always search for combinations prior to painting the exterior of homes.
This was my inspiration for our home – since we have yellow siding, navy shutters and I wanted a teal door.
