This post from one of my favorite online inspirations hit me hard:

Is it possible to do all that we desire, fully, without feeling divided? Multitasking is the learned (survival) skill that sometimes deceives —promising whole, but often leaving us half-hearted; promising efficiency, but leaving us semi-present; promising achievement, but leaves us unfulfilled instead. . It may not be this way for all, but it certainly is for me: . ▪️I can’t be heavily on social media AND be heartily invested in my family. . ▪️I can’t think deeply AND be quick to speak. . ▪️I can’t meditate on the Word AND worry about my life at the same time. . ▪️I can’t protect my pride AND consider someone else more important than myself. . ▪️I can’t be freely creative AND frantically comparing. . ▪️I can’t really rest AND take every opportunity to hustle. . Truth is (and how freeing it is!): We can’t have it all, be everywhere at the same time, or do all-the-things well with a fraction of our attention. . Instead, the bravest thing we can do may be to choose what we will actually invest in, and let go of what is not for us to do (even if it’s awesome for someone else.) . Let’s set aside FOMO (fear of missing out) and only aim to BE WHERE God has for us, right now, in our current season. Lord, teach us to #learntolovewhatmustbedone. . He’s given us one life, one body, one mind, and one day at a time to walk with Him —not running ahead or dragging behind—but to simply declare: . “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12) 🌅🌄 . YOUR TURN 👉🏼 Gratefully confess that you can’t and don’t need to be a multitasker: “I can’t ____ AND _____ ….” 🙌🏼 . #preachingtomyownheart #gracelacedsunsets #inpraiseofinefficiency #multitaskingisamyth #vistalaplata #youdonthavetobebloomingtobegrowing #gracelacedmotherhoodandbusiness #gracelacedbusinesstips #christiancreative

YES, friends!! That one line jumped out for me.
“I can’t be heavily on social media AND be heartily invested in my family.” – Ruth Chou Simons
Ok, Ruth challenged us – so, it’s my turn.
I can’t give 110% always AND never make rest a priority.
My body needs healing rest. Some days I need to sit with my kids and not worry about the projects and the housework and the cleaning and the dishes. My soul needs a break from doing doing doing.
Tonight is one of those nights.

A break from the work.
A break from social media.
A break from striving.
A break from being everything to everyone and neglecting my soul.

Won’t you join me?
Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” – Mark 6:31 NIV
