We got home from a weekend away visiting family and the top of the giant Haigler Christmas tree had started to die…
Hold on to your hats, folks.
Tonight, we cut down the Christmas tree. On January 15.
Oh yes, we did. It was like a Bonsai tree. HILARIOUSNESS!
First, the kiddos helped take all the ornaments and lights off. This was indeed a family project for #makeovermonday.
The bottom of the tree was still green and gorgeous and all smelly!!
Oh, how it broke my heart to take it down. Don’t laugh.
The kids helped bag up strands of lights.
And Brock found the ornaments that would fall when the lights came off.
Brian is my saving grace. He thinks of genius ideas like putting each strand of lights into a plastic bag so they don’t tangle. GENIUS.
This year all of the ornaments got dumped into two bins.
Ain’t nobody got time for sorting and boxing. Just dump into the bin. Yes, sir.
It’s possibly the last tree we’ll take down in this house…I tried not to cry.
Then Brian got all excited to start cutting it up. Yes, cut it up. Y’all didn’t think we could get this thing out the door did ya???
The kids starting carrying branches out the back door.
They had an absolute blast.
Only our family. I can’t stop laughing.
And now the living room is back together, for the moment anyway. I really feel like rearranging all the furniture…again.
Don’t worry. I still have a few trees at the fireplace. Maybe they’ll survive another month or two. 🙂
