We have worked towards this day for MONTHS, ultimately years…
A day we’ve prayed for and prayed over and didn’t dare walk into lightly.
Today was THE day:
Brian and I walked together hand-in-hand down the sidewalk into the Mint Hill Town Hall, our arms full of papers and plans and proposals, and officially submitted our application for rezoning – the project name: The Old Haigler Inn!!!
Don’t you be fooled by all those papers. Those papers represent months of meetings and tears and changes and literally walking through 22 acres in 1000 degrees (without seeing one single snake, mind you) and community meetings and commissioner presentations and letters and stormwater submissions and soil scientists and surveyors and engineers and architects…
and one family that is ready to say YES!
Guys, we had no idea the road that would lead us to here. Only God. We have seen His faithful hand all along the way.
Only God could orchestrate a life full of turns and valleys and mountain tops and disappointments and joy, all knowing it would bring us to this moment.
Only God could have prepared us for this. He molded us for this. He knew all along.
When I questioned circumstances and grief and unexpected changes in our life, He knew it would all bring us here.
And we’re so thankful.
And shaking in our boots!! Are we really about to take on this massive project???
This step is our first major milestone – the rezoning application. That piece of paper and all of the supporting documentation paves the way for us to be part of a public hearing (tentatively Thursday, Feb 8, in the evening – YOU’RE INVITED!!) and then for a vote by the Town of Mint Hill Commissioners for rezoning approval on Thursday, March 8.
Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming:
Our plan includes –
-The House Barn at the Old Haigler Inn – events (up to 150 people) and 3 suites for rent
-The Annex – Reclamations Shoppe and Cafe
-The Outdoor Gathering Area at the Old Haigler Inn – a place for friends to gather and reconnect
-Our personal home on the property
-The Cottages at Old Haigler Inn
-The Spa at Old Haigler Inn
-The Chapel at Old Haigler Inn
-The Fitness Center
Woven into every aspect of this property will be a non-profit ministry that comes alongside to serve those in ministry – pastors, missionaries, church staff, families, etc. Our heart is to bring people and families together to be restored and reclaimed and refreshed!
All of this will be built on these 22 acres in Mint Hill on Brief Road (pending our approval, of course).
We cannot wait to welcome you to our home, friends.
The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Isaiah 58:11 NLT
We’d love your prayers and we’ll keep you posted on important dates ahead in the coming months! Love you all!
