You may call me crazy.
My soul has been stirred this past week. God is up to something. Get ready. God is surely alive and ready to speak to His children.
Are we listening?
I’m sad to admit that my relationship with God is more of me talking and less of me sitting and listening.
One of the books I’m reading currently (The Sacred Year by Michael Yankoski) tells about the author’s struggle with silence, in a world that does everything to avoid the stillness and quiet. How can we expect to hear God speak when we fill every hour, every moment, every blank space?
Yes. I avoid the quiet and trade it for busy and hurried. All too often.
The author went on to live in a remote cave for 7 days. WHOA.
Since I can’t live in a cave currently, I can set my alarm and get up to sit in the early morning stillness. 5:45am. I will be there. Won’t you join me and sit in the quiet darkness and listen for what God has to say?
I will sit. With a warm mug of oatmeal (I’m currently not drinking coffee and oatmeal has become my new best friend) and candlelight. Just me and my Lord. In the quiet stillness.
