For today’s #trashouttuesday I’m not talking about clutter in our home (although that has definitely been part of my week…remember the trash can outside our front door yesterday???).
Today I’m sharing on a topic I think most of us could relate to – FEAR.
Background
I’ve been struggling for a few days with a situation in which fear kept overtaking my thoughts about our family and our safety. Side note – this is why I can’t watch too many TV dramas with real-life suspense and such, I think all of it will happen to me!!
My mind was uneasy about a particular meeting we had coming up and I allowed my thoughts to be consumed with possible scenarios. I mean, watch the news – there are bad people in this world, right???
I was focused on the worst possible ending. We might not even make it out alive. I’m being serious, y’all. Not joking in the slightest sense.
Don’t think I didn’t text my family and friends and tell them where we were and I even created a plan of what would happen if my worst-case scenarios came true!!!
You haven’t done that before?? OH, just me.
I shared my uneasiness with Brian this afternoon – and here’s where I got reallll worried. At first, he was fine…then I think HE started believing my doubts too!! Not good.
And then, I told the devil it was over.
I walked myself through Costco this afternoon saying these words OVER AND OVER AND OVER OUT LOUD:
So don’t worry, because I am with you. Don’t be afraid, because I am your God. Isaiah 41:10a NCV
On repeat.
As I grabbed a buggy.
As I walked through the parking lot.
As I was in the check-out line.
“So don’t worry, because I am with you. Don’t be afraid, because I am your God. Isaiah 41:10a”
“So don’t worry, because I am with you. Don’t be afraid, because I am your God. Isaiah 41:10a”
“So don’t worry, because I am with you. Don’t be afraid, because I am your God. Isaiah 41:10a”
It was about time I didn’t give the enemy room in my brain to sow doubt and fear.
GOD IS WITH ME! Time to think and act like a child of God!
Immediately my mind went to our children’s program at church yesterday. How ironic that our kids lead us in worship – a song with these exact words….I’m no longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God.
My friend, if you’re facing fear tonight – punch it in the face. Speak the scriptures out loud. Sing about deliverance. We are no longer slaves – we are children of God!
Oh, and by the way – we made it home safe and sound. Thank you, God, for Your mighty hand of protection over us.
