Tonight I’m posing a simple question –
Do you remember anything about today?
What did you eat? I had a kickin’ chicken sandwich for lunch, and that was a bad idea.
How did the food taste? It was excellent at the moment, then too much. Same with dinner. I’ve got to get better at my food choices so I don’t feel miserable after eating.
Who did you meet? People at church, kids in children’s church, our team for dinner.
What did you talk about? Mostly chit-chat. Nothing too deep.
What were the conversations that meant something to your heart? Talking to a friend tonight that has small children, I realized we all struggle with so many of the same things in life.
Did you go to church? Yes, barely. Sick kiddo that had to sit in the car!!
What worship songs came from your lips? Jesus, Jesus, Holy and Anointed One.
What did the Pastor speak about? Not sure, I was in children’s church – we practiced for our program next week. Our kids singing No Longer Slaves gets me EVERY TIME.
What did you spend the last 24 hours doing? Traveling, taking care of a sick kiddo, juggling ministry and family, holding my little boy in my arms without distraction for an hour solid, celebrating 2017 with our real estate team family.
Too many days I’ve sped through life and I couldn’t answer these questions, honestly.
I’ve jammed my days so full of stuff and to-dos that I don’t take time to stop and notice ANYTHING. Then, I fall into bed exhausted, not taking the chance to reflect on the day I’ve been given.
I wonder where my time goes and continue this crazy rat race of life – all in the name of busyness.
It’s not very satisfying and hardly fulfilling, to say the least.
My mind has been challenged on this topic.
I’ll share more later – it involves monks and silent meals and staring at apples for hours on end.
Yes, craziness, right??
I’m intrigued. I’m listening. I’m wondering why God chose this time and moment to get my attention on paying attention to life?
One thing I know for sure – it is for a purpose.
How about you? There is no better day than #slowitdownSunday to reflect on the moments we’ve lived.
Can you answer those questions? Have you stopped to think? Have you put aside social media and television and busyness to get lost on purpose? Do it.
PS – the wool dryer ball giveaway winners from this past week are… Becca and Lisa!! Yay! I’ll send an email tonight with instructions for getting them your way. 🙂
