#thirstythursday / what defines us is how well we rise after falling

the daily Starr thirsty thursday

“To serve people takes dignity and intelligence. But remember, they are only people with money. And although we serve them, we are not their servants. What we do, Miss Ventura, does not define who we are. What defines us is how well we rise after falling.”

– Quote from Maid in Manhattan

This quote hit me like a ton of bricks.

Especially that last line –

What defines us is how well we rise after falling.

Oh goodness, ain’t that the truth?!?!

We’ve all fallen. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you do or where you’ve been.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. – Romans 3:23

That is not the end of the story.

But, God.

My God redeems!! He gives us the power of the resurrection to rise above!

Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power. – 1 Corinthians 6:14

Through Him, we have the living power to rise after the worst falls.

If you’re like me, the enemy will try his best to get into your mind and remind you of every awful mistake you’ve ever made. I’ve been there. The mistakes were terrible. But the forgiveness I have in Jesus Christ washes those sins away, never to be remembered! THAT is what I’m clinging to tonight.

What defines us is how well we rise after falling.

When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. – Colossians 3:4

  1. How true my sister passed away October 2nd. I got to spend time with her. She had no husband or children. I was her family. I handled the estate. I love the kind, caring people at my new work in Monroe. Life is awesome! The gift of that time and caring is priceless. God is with us in all events. Even if we aren’t sure what’s on the next page of our lives He knows the plans He has for us.

    • I’m so sorry to hear about your sister! Yes, even when we don’t know the plans ahead, He is certainly in control. Praying for you as you handle all of the details and honor your sister.
