#clearthestage / Kylie was worried about tornadoes tonight

Kylie is going through that stage where she is fearful of her bad dreams.

Last week it was giants.

Tonight it was tornadoes.

As I sat with my arms around our tearful little girl, I realized how I needed to hear my own advice more than she.

We don’t have to worry about tornadoes.

We don’t have to be fearful. We can rest knowing that God is in control and that whatever happens, He will take care of us.

ME: And mommy has an alarm on her phone that will tell us if a tornado is coming. If that happens, I promise we’ll hide in the closet under the stairs.

KYLIE: But we can’t all fit in that closet with all the stuff!!

ME: Oh, we’ll move the stuff. We’ll make room darling, I promise!!Β

I’m secretly laughing inside at this point.

Bottom line – our worry is in vain. It doesn’t help.

Yep.

That’s right, STARR!

You don’t have to worry about the land.

You don’t have to worry about the opposition from neighbors.

You don’t have to worry about the water and septic situation.

God knows about all these details and my worry is in vain. He has this in the palm of His hand.

All I need to do is trust and rest in these truths.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

Amen and amen.
