#clearthestage / I never could have imagined this moment 18 years ago

Almost 18 years ago, I drove 5 hours home from Lee University to begin Christmas break from my freshman year of college to the news that my parents were HAVING A BABY!

Mind you, I had been an only child for almost 19 years!

How does that even happen??? Wait. Nevermind.

And our lives changed forever…in the best possible way.

Tonight, that little baby girl got accepted into Lee University!!!

This makes me feel really old.

Joy’s acceptance letter came in the mail before she got home, so we surprised her before dinner.

Dad had to give one of his “speeches.”

Oh, Joy.

You have no idea how proud we are. You have helped make our home and family something special. I don’t know how we’ll survive without you around for 4 years, but we’ll manage somehow. You have helped me learn how to #clearthestage and make room for what’s important in life. Specifically, you and the teens of our church have helped me remember how important worship is. I’m forever grateful for how you continually inspire me.

AND can I please mention – she’s been offered a Presidential Scholarship!! Seriously. So so so so proud.

We love you, Joy. Congratulations!!
