One of my favorite writers/bloggers, The Nester, has this saying:
And that’s exactly what this morning was.
For the first time in almost 14 years, Brian and I gathered at the table – along with our girls (Brock got to sleep in, that lucky booger) – and started our day with a simple scripture and prayer.
It wasn’t perfect. We didn’t actually eat anything around the table. Come on people, one small miracle at a time. I was wearing my robe and I hadn’t brushed my teeth or my hair. You would be scared silly to see me in such gloriousness. My eyes were still half shut. And we literally sat at the table for about 1 minute.
It was stunningly beautiful. We paused. In the midst of a morning rush that is ordinarily chaos on wheels, we took time to start a new ritual. A ritual that will leave a lasting impact on our family legacy.
This is what it means to begin anew. Start where you are. Start now, no matter if it’s perfect or not. This is what it means to #clearthestage.
We might not get it right every day, but we’re learning along the way what matters most and what doesn’t matter at all. Prayer has dividends that payout beyond a lifetime.
