Today we’re continuing our #1wordwednesday series on Haigler Hospitality {HABITS}.

ICYMI – You can catch last week’s intro “Let someone else go first” here <<.

Once a week we’ll introduce a simple habit for our kids to learn and challenge them to practice the habit as much as possible.

Each time they get caught practicing the weekly habit on their own we’ll keep track and ultimately celebrate our family’s progress.

Haigler Hospitality Habit #2 –

Clean up after yourself.

Why do people leave trash sitting around????

This baffles me. In self-service restaurants, at home, at school, in the breakroom.

HELLO!

Someone has to clean your mess up, people!!

I don’t want to raise humans who think it’s ok to leave their mess for someone else.

Let’s also think about this scenario – say my kids go over to someone’s house to play…PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t let my kids be the ones that leave their food and trash and drinks all over the house for someone else to clean up.

It starts at home – they will do what they do at home when they go off somewhere else. We all have room for improvement, but the motto around our house is to clean up the mess you made. And sometimes clean up the mess you didn’t make – because I’m the parent and I said so!!

Take your plates to the sink after dinner.
Take your shoes and socks upstairs and put them away (I’m guilty of not doing this…so so bad).
Pick up your cups and water bottles (Guilty. Again.).
Put your clothes in the dirty clothes hamper (getting better, day by day).

This week we’re going to practice cleaning up after ourselves. This should become a natural instinct. For. Sure.

It all starts with me. I’m going to live this example for my kids and teach them by actually living what I preach. Amen and amen.

Let’s do this!!

Practice {Habit} #2 as much as possible this week.

There’s a level of immaturity to people who just can’t clean up after themselves. – Jann Wenner
