Joy and Chloe have wanted to update the youth room at church for AGES!
Here is the before –
They painted the side walls a while back and we replaced some of the furniture, but still. This dark and dreary room needs some serious design help!
There isn’t a window in this interior room, so we needed to do anything we could to brighten this space up.
You know my first thought, right????
Yep.
White.
Paint that brick and the wooden shelf WHITE!!!!
I put the whole crew to work. They were actually having fun, I promise.
We had an old cabinet in the room that we decided to paint white as well.
I forgot to take a photo before we took the top off. It has an old laminate top and we decided to paint it gray. Yes, you heard me right. We painted a countertop. I wouldn’t advise this for a house where you’re using the countertops everyday, but in a space that has minimal use – SURE!
We are SOOOO excited with how the #makeovermonday youth room extreme makeover turned out, y’all!!!!
All of the decor items came from the Target clearance section – btw they are having a huge clearance sell off currently.
These lamps were $8 each.
Also, the black globe was $8.
Joy and Chloe picked up the other random decor items on the shelf. They did sooo good!! I must be rubbing off on them, lol!
We’re going to do a big photo print in that empty space at the top of the shelf.
This barstool was on clearance for $20!
Beware, Joy and Chloe put it together all by themselves. Not sure if I would actually sit in it or not.
The rug was on clearance for $40.
And the welcome mat was only $6.
Like I said, we’re so excited about the new look!
Joy and Chloe are ready for youth to begin…oh wait, that’s not until Sunday!
We also got a couch cover for the old leather couch. It was on clearance for $29. We’re not exactly crazy about that.
But it sure is comfy!! HA!
That lamp in the corner was $7 for the shade and $11 for the base, on clearance, of course.
We still have a few projects we’re thinking about – some by doing a donuts fundraiser to get the needed funds.
- adding a television for dvds and games
- buying new couches (they’ve always had hand-me-down couches, I told them we could raise some money to buy some at IKEA that wouldn’t break the bank)
- coffee maker (or hot chocolate for the non-coffee fans)
- bluetooth speaker
- painting the door with chalk paint to write scriptures and notes
For now, the girls wanted everyone to know that fall has officially arrived.
Can I be a teenager again, please??
