So then, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:34
Today is the day I stopped worrying. ‘Cause worrying sure wears a girl out.
Today is the day I realized I can’t manipulate God’s perfect plan.
And which of you by worrying can add even one hour to his life? Matthew 6:27
I mean, it’s not like worrying is getting me anywhere, right???
It’s not helping. It’s not adding any time to my life. It’s plain annoying to those around me. Especially my poor husband, who takes the brunt of my nagging and meddling when I’m trying to make something happen.
But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
Today is the day I chose to lay down worry and pick up pursuing my Savior.
That’s easier said than done.
It’s easy when things are going right. But when things are going not so right??
I’d rather do anything but give up control.
Chasing after God? This is the most important thing I could do. Ever.
Worrying about necessities is in actuality doubting the loving provision that has been promised to us by the Lord God. When we worry we are distracted and take our eyes off of our obligation to serve Him in all ways, which should be our highest priority.
My worry has made me distracted. I’ve taken my eyes off the highest priority. And today that changes.
I’ve cried tears of disappointment. I’ve blamed others around me for not doing what I thought they should do. I’ve had to wrestle with God and apologize to my husband.
This is a daily battle for me.
Each day, laying down my desire to control and my worry about the future – and giving it all to Him.
Letting go is so hard for a control freak like me.
I’ll probably have to come back and do this same thing tomorrow again. I’m pretty stubborn sometimes. Okay. A lot of times.
Today, I choose to stop this madness and listen. My teacher is behind me and His voice is there.
20 Though the Lord gave you adversity for food and suffering for drink, he will still be with you to teach you. You will see your teacher with your own eyes. 21Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left. Isaiah 30:20-21 NLT
Lord, on this #slowitdownSunday I lay down my worry. Let me hear You. Oh, how I desperately need to hear from You.
