This is our 3rd year venturing out to Sky Top and it never disappoints.
The Flat Rock area is less than 2 hours away from our home and is the perfect distance for a quick day trip. After watching so many friends post via social media over the years, we decided to go ourselves right after Brock was born 2 years ago.
Then, I learned that Honeycrisp apples (my favorite) are only available early season and if you don’t come early, you don’t get Honeycrisp.
So, last year we went in mid August and Honeycrisp we got!
Today’s trip was the best weather yet – a little overcast and high 70s. It was heavenly.
Side note: getting 3 kids to smile at the same time is nearly impossible.
Brock just wanted to grab apples and start eating them. Everywhere. The entire time. Fun. See that guilty face up there??? “What apples, mom?”
A major hail storm hit the orchard mid summer and damaged a lot of the crops, but we still got plenty of gorgeous apples.
The kids do love the apples, but they really enjoyed getting all their energy out in the playground.
They even have a giant apple house.
My favorite part? The fresh apple cider donuts.
Yep, I stood in line for 15 minutes to get my 2 fresh dozens. And I could have eaten an entire box myself.
Another great apple orchard trip in the books. This was the perfect way to celebrate our last #funfriday before school starts on Monday. Come on fall, we’re ready for you!
Here are our favorite reasons for visiting Sky Top Orchard:
#1 - the apple cider donuts #2 - U pick apples in the orchard #3 - HONEYCRISP APPLES #4 - a play area to get alllll the energy out from riding in the car #5 - slightly cooler temperatures signaling the start of fall
If you’ve never visited, check the website before you go. They don’t accept debit or credit, so you’ll need to bring cash. You’ll also want to see what apples can be picked when on the schedule. Lastly, strollers don’t work well at all. Just leave them at home.
This is what happens when I tell Brock he can’t grab and eat the apples.
