I love finding ideas on social media – especially now that sites like Instagram and Facebook make it super easy to save posts you want to remember or come back to. That’s exactly what I do when I see something good for our weekly #shareitsaturday feature.
This Instagram post from Nichole Nordeman is such a great idea for those of us that find ourselves out at restaurants with the need to entertain kiddos, but really fighting the easy distraction of having our noses in the cell phone. It’s a real struggle, by the way. Kids get bored. And loud. It’s so easy to pull out the phone and let them watch a video until the food comes.
YES! Why don’t I pack easy card games in my purse or my car to have on hand?? This would let our family actually enjoy each other’s company and have fun at the same time. It made me think of the games on the table at Cracker Barrel restaurants. Do y’all remember these?
You could pack a little entertainment bag in your car just for taking into restaurants. I’m going to pack these items in our stash.
a dry erase board and markers
card games – UNO, Go Fish, Old Maid, etc.
paper and pens, markers/crayons
thank you cards – to leave for our servers with tips
How about you? Do you have any ideas or strategies for not using electronics at the dinner table? I’d love to hear your comments below.
