If you’ve just joined our family adventure here on the daily Starr you may not know about our dream to have a property one day.
Our vision is to create a gathering place – for families, for those needing rest, for those seeking a refuge from this broken world. We dream of having a barn, cottages, land, bonfires and picnics. Ohhh, how I can’t wait!!!
This dream has been a long time coming – so long that this welcome sign is about all we own so far!
We’ve been actively seeking and approaching land owners in our area for over a year. And can I be honest? It’s been hard and discouraging.
I’m learning to hear the word no over and over and over.
It’s still hard to see door after door slam shut. Just ask Brian – I get all pouty like a little kid when we hear “no” or things aren’t easy.
My prayer lately has been for God to guide our steps and our path for the future. We’ll just keep knocking on doors and looking for land and hearing no over and over and over until the right door opens.
That brings us to tonight’s update and how we need your prayers this week.
There’s a property that has popped up on our radar – 2 properties actually, side by side.
Everything about this property makes me laugh – it is nothing like we planned. On top of that it’s in a different location than we’ve been looking. I don’t know if this will be where God has planned for our dream, but I sure am open to obeying if this is where He is leading.
There are so many details to figure out and there are a thousand pieces to this puzzle.
Can you help us pray?
Pray for wisdom in how to approach the sellers of these properties and for their hearts to be open to working with us. This will honestly be a miracle if we can come to terms on contracts for purchase. I need God to go before us and prepare the sellers.
Pray for divine appointments with civil engineers to help us come up with plans that are required to start the rezoning process. This is something completely new for us and we need to meet the right people quickly that have the capacity to help us.
Pray for clear discernment and knowledge in our financing – to make smart decisions that honor God with how we spend in purchasing this property.
Pray for patience for me – oh, especially for me. This waiting is hard. Every corner seems to have an obstacle and I’m not really good with obstacles.
Pray above all that we listen to God and that we persevere until the time is right.
I cherish your encouragement and prayers, friends. And I’m thankful to have you along on this journey.
If you’re going through your own season of waiting, cling to this reminder that a sweet friend sent to me tonight :
Proverbs 3:5&6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path.
