#slowitdownSunday / ’til the storm passes by

the daily Starr slow it down Sunday

Confession: I usually take naps on Sunday afternoons if at all possible. And I make everyone in the house take naps too. It’s called family nap time. And it is heavenly.

Sometimes Brock doesn’t even make it to his bed before drifting off.

Is there really anything better than a sleeping baby?? Let’s have another one, Brian!!!

Sunday family naps are one way I choose to #slowitdownSunday in our overly busy schedule.

Today I awoke from my nap to storms – complete with booming thunder, lightning and kiddos that were a little nervous with all the commotion. And Brock running around saying, “LIGHTNING>>>THUNDER!!” in his best Disney Cars movie voice!

Immediately I thought about a song from my childhood. This is what I grew up listening to in church and oh how this takes me right back to my childhood days.

Oh, and you’re welcome for that mullet close up!!! I’m sorry, couldn’t resist.

‘Til the storm passes over, ’til the thunder sounds no more
‘Til the clouds roll forever from the sky
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand
Keep me safe ’til the storm passes by

  1. Ah, yes, isn’t it great how those hymns and bible verses we learned as children stay with us? I was a church organist so the kids heard lots of hymns. Also, we lived across from another church that would play the chimes every evening at six. So sometimes we played ‘Name that Hymn’ during dinner!

    • How cool is that?!??? My mom is the church piano player. And I would LOVE to live beside a church with bells!! We want to have this on our property!!!

  2. There is nothing wrong with a good family naptime on sunday! We do it if we can, too. If the kids won’t sleep, Bill and I take one ourselves!
