#1wordwednesday / 1 simple love note {TRADITION} in 5 min or less

We’re continuing our simple everyday family {traditions} in 5 minutes or less on the blog for today’s #1wordwednesday.

This tradition is something I started because of inspiration from my own mama. Whenever she travels away from home for work or to see family, she always leaves special surprises for Joy to find.

A couple of years ago I put my own spin on this tradition and purposely started leaving love notes around the house for everyone to find.

I leave notes on the bathroom mirrors written with dry erase markers.

Kylie, you are my LOVE BUG. ❀ Mommy

Kayla, we missed you so much this week. Welcome Home!!!! Be sweet for daddy. ❀ Mommy

I also leave them notes on their pillows to find when they go to bed.

I love leaving these little notes around the house. Last time I came home to replies they had written back to me on the mirror, it was SOOOO sweet.

And I can’t forget about my man.

Oh, yes. He gets love notes too. He even gets them sometimes when I’m home because he’s special like that.

Love notes and encouraging words are an easy way to remind those we love most that they are on our minds.

You can write notes on index cards, on mirrors with dry erase markers, or just leave little slips of paper. I love buying pre-made love card sets you can find in the greeting card section at CVS or Walgreens. These are super quick to hang up or leave on pillows. And they’re cute too!

    • Should I admit that I don’t pack lunches?? And that Kayla started writing herself notes at one point at school telling herself she loved her??? I’m not even joking πŸ™‚

  1. Such a cute idea! I bet my kids would love the messages on the mirror because you “aren’t supposed to do that.” πŸ˜‰

A few years ago, during the month of February, I did something similar (saw it on Pinterest). Each night during the month, I wrote a love note and put it on their door. It always started with the phrase “Ethan is awesome because…”. Sometimes it was silly like “he has pretty blue eyes” or “he loves his awesome sister.” But other times I tried to be serious and really give a sincere compliment . They loved it and couldn’t wait to get up each morning to see their notes.
