#makeovermonday / my next furniture makeover – an antique bentwood rocker

the daily Starr makeover monday blog

Today’s #makeovermonday project is an upcoming event.

AKA – I didn’t have time to work on a makeover for today because I drove to the mountains to drop Kayla off at her first overnight church youth camp for the week!!

They were super excited, especially about the bunk beds! Don’t worry, I didn’t leave them totally alone. Joy and Chloe are working on staff this week, so they’ll be there if needed.

Back to the furniture.

I had a friend selling this old bentwood rocking chair and I couldn’t pass it up.

I remember my parents having one of these back in the day and I distinctly remember sitting in a chair like this in my bedroom playing my first Nintendo games. WOW.

Maybe I’ll find that photo soon to share!!

After researching rocker makeovers on Pinterest, I settled on this look for our rocker makeover.

I think.

Isn’t that just GORGEOUS???

But, I’m still not sure. There’s soooo many other looks that are fabulous with this chair (all random images from google searching on the internet, btw).

What do you think? I know some of you are totally against me painting any kind of wood, so I expect to hear that, hahah!

I can’t wait to get started. The toughest part to figure out will be the fabric and how to make the back of the rocker look okay. I may have to bring my mom in on this project. She’s more handy when it comes to sewing and the such.

Stay tuned for our new and updated rocker, coming soon.

How about you? Have you ever refinished or remodeled a rocking chair? I’d love to hear about your experiences.
