Today’s #makeovermonday project has been weeks in the making.
It finally feels like our thrown together hot mess of a playroom is becoming an adorable space. F I N A L L Y.
There are a few more projects up my sleeve to finish, but we’re on the homestretch, people. Alllll the praise hands here!!! This week’s additions included curtains, artwork, accent pieces and Christmas lights.
I cannot tell you how much of a difference these long white IKEA curtains made. They instantly give a softer feel to the entire room. Now you feel cozy as soon as you walk in. These curtains were found in the “as-is” room near the check out lines at IKEA and were used as displays in the store – I got them for around $5. They’ve been upstairs in our storage closet for months and now they finally have a permanent home! Side note: I cannot pull myself away from walking through the “as-is” section any time I’m up at IKEA. You can find some serious deals for SUPER CHEAP.
The pillows are a mix of Target clearance and IKEA. The kid is freshly bathed and not included.
Next, I added the pieces of artwork above the mirror. The heart and black and white quote were clearance items at Hobby Lobby a few months ago – both around $5. The lamp was moved from our office and I changed out a shade that was from the Target clearance section. The family photo canvas was a gift from my Aunt Debra and the colors go perfectly with our color scheme, which includes pops of teal.
In case you’re wondering – I’ve still managed to abide by my self imposed rule to not purchase anything new for this makeover. I’ve only been shopping our house and storage to find items that will work. This has definitely created a challenge for me, but I love the fact that we’re making use of what we already have. Brian is more happy than me about this fact, don’t ya know.
Lastly, we added Christmas lights around the stage!
I literally went out to the garage and got a set of lights out of our Christmas bin. They are taped and tacked to the walls and the bottom layer is running along the edge of the stage.
The kiddos love it. I mean, who wouldn’t love Christmas lights on your playroom stage??? Kylie said it feels like a recital room now, hahah!
I’m just pumped that we have a cute playroom that is starting to come together with design and purpose.
Stay tuned, we’re about to wrap this one up!
