#slowitdownSunday / I’m messed up and you are too

the daily Starr slow it down Sunday

If there’s one thing I’m realizing more every day it’s this: we’re all messed up.

You. Me. The neighbor down the street. The grocery store clerk. The Pastor. The teacher. The celebrity. The all-star athlete. The one who seems like they have it all together and life is perfect.

All of us.

Messed up folks. Nobody is perfect.

The more we can admit our faults and failures and realize we all struggle with something, the more God can use our story to point to Him.

If we were a perfect people we wouldn’t have a need for God. We wouldn’t have a need for God’s grace.

Oh, God’s grace.

Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin!

How I need it daily.

Just ask my family. They are the ones closest to me that see my shortcomings on display and the places where I flat out fail.

And the tricky thing is how the enemy will make you forget your own failures, but magnify the failures of those around you.

Can I get an amen?

Oh, Lord – help me to not forget the gospel of Your grace tonight as I #slowitdownSunday.
