#1wordwednesday / what if you did that one thing that makes you come {ALIVE}

Tonight I have a question: What is that thing that makes you come {ALIVE}?

That thing you’d jump up out of bed for every morning and do, even if you didn’t get paid a dime.

Hmmm, hard to answer, right?

If I had to pick one answer to give to you RIGHT NOW IN THIS VERY MOMENT, it would be : painting.

In this busy season, painting does something to stir my soul. It’s hard to explain, hard to figure out, hard to put on paper.

I love what Emily P. Freeman says in her book A Million Little Ways about doing work that comes from deep within you.

You have the power to influence, to move, to make, to become.

Amen to that! And amen again! I’m talking to YOU. Not your neighbor, best friend, or anyone else you may want to throw in as an excuse to ignore God’s call on your life, btw.

If you’ve forgotten what makes you come {alive}, consider this your challenge to start figuring it out. Today is the day. Start here. Start now.

Here’s a clue – it may not be just ONE thing.

Emily reminds us there could be a million little ways you come {alive} and glorify God with your life. Isn’t that an incredible relief to know you don’t have to figure out JUST ONE THING??

Grab a sheet of paper.

Think about your current season of life.

What is that thing that makes you come {alive}?

Fill up your paper with words, phrases, bullet points, whatever you need.

There are no rules here, only a goal of putting words to your dreams and asking God to lead you on the path to coming alive in Him.

I fully believe with everything in me that He has a specific calling on each of our lives to come {alive} and point others to Him.

Will we accept the call and follow hard after these seeds He’s planting now? Come {alive}, the world is waiting.

Emily’s book is all about uncovering the art you were made to live. I recommend this highly if you’re like me and in a season of asking God to lead your life.

ps – Kylie was sweeping our floors at the time this photo was taken. It was hilariousness. Her words for 30 minutes straight included phrases like these,

“No one around here cleans but me!”

“These floors are sooo dirty!!”

“Look at all this dirt!!”

I cannot make this stuff up. Someone help me. Maybe her one thing is cleaning.

    • Haha actually these thoughts have been on my mind for days. But our conversation this morning just made me want to really work on figuring out what makes me come alive. So thank you, friend!!
