#slowitdownSunday / in loving memory of our dear friend, Judy

the daily Starr slow it down Sunday

Today we lost a dear friend in our church family.

Judy McManus 7/16/1948-5/28/2017

Judy was one of a kind and such a blessing to our entire family. She’s been in church with us since my dad became a pastor over 20 years ago.

Personally, Judy was a friend. She stepped up in our church over the past few years and helped Brian and I teach Children’s Church. Her willingness to serve was something I’ll never forget.

When my grandmother got sick a few years ago, Judy showed up with the biggest basket of goodies you can imagine. She even sat with my grandma during the 5 weeks she lived in my parent’s home before her passing.

The past few weeks have been difficult as we walked through a quick spreading cancer diagnosis. Today, we’re all still in shock that she can be gone so quickly.

I ask you tonight – please pray for Judy’s family.

We all have prayed in the last few days for God to have mercy and take Judy home. Her sickness was getting unbearable and she was in so much pain.

Thank you, Lord – for answering our prayers and for taking Judy home.

Judy, there will be a missing part of our church family forever. We’re thankful that you are now home with your Savior and we look forward to seeing you again on the streets of gold! Thank you, friend – for giving to the Lord. You impacted my life!

  1. Starr, what a beautiful lady. It sounds like she really had a heart for people. I will pray for her family and add your family and your church family as well. I am sure the church family will really have a big hole where she once filled so many roles. Thank you for sharing her story.
