There’s a situation I’ve been struggling with for months. I’ve lost sleep, cried tears and talked Brian’s ears off. He probably thinks I sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher at this point (wahh wahh wahhh wahhh)!!
I haven’t shared my thoughts out loud with others related to this subject because it’s painful and personal. I have spent a lot of time pondering and praying (and honestly worrying and playing conversations over and over and over in my head) that God would help me understand and help me to learn.
Time always heals situations like these and for a while, it seemed I had moved on.
Then, isn’t it just like the enemy to bring it back in your face and cause you to get all anxious and sweaty-palmed again after you thought it was done??
That was me today. I quickly fell into a pit of frustration and worry. My stomach was in knots and I just wanted to walk away.
Finally, I sent my mom a message sharing my pent-up frustrations and asking for advice. Note: she had no idea about my months of worry on this topic!
Wow! A phone call with mom on her drive home today changed my perspective completely! Why didn’t I do this months ago???
Her encouragement helped me see through a different lens and realize one important thing: I’m not alone.
She made me feel normal. She made me feel like I’m not crazy. Her words reminded me that even through this, it would all be ok.
Mom, thank you.
2 things I’m reminded of tonight on this #thirstythursday :
#1 – Sometimes we need people to help us process difficult situations. Holding it all in and feeling alone is not good. I could have saved myself a lot of lost sleep if I had talked to mom sooner.
#2 – We never know when someone around us needs encouragement and needs to hear that reassuring, “me too, friend!” You are not alone on this journey. God calls us to love and encourage each other.
I want to be more like mom and do that for those around me.
Hebrews 10:24 – And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
