Tonight I asked my dad what 1 piece of {advice} he would give me on his 63rd birthday.
His words,
“Humility before God.
When people lose their humility before God they lose their servant attitude.
When they lose their servant attitude they develop a haughty spirit.”
Then I asked him if he thought I had a haughty spirit….and he shrugged his shoulders and gave me that huff and puff of aggravation I’ve come to love…hahah! JUST KIDDING, DAD!!
Seriously – I’ve been thinking a lot today about how blessed I am to still have dad as an integral part of our family. So many friends have lost parents over the past few years and it’s hard to accept the fact that we’re all getting older.
Dad, I’m thankful for you.
I’m thankful for the ministry you lead. I’m thankful for the way you love broken people and show grace. I’m thankful for how you raised me in the church and instilled a heart for God and serving others.
I’m thankful that you still give me advice, on days I ask for it and days I don’t. God knows I still need to hear both, hah~!
Thank you for being you, dad. We love you and happy, happy birthday!
