First of all, apologies to my blog subscribers for the later than normal post tonight, it’s just been one of those days….
This is me showing you that as of tonight, I still had Christmas trees hanging out in the corner of my kitchen:
Yep, these trees have been perfectly content in their spot since…November.
I’ve had ideas for this little corner for a while and tonight I decided to start that project.
This other desk cabinet in our kitchen holds all of our pencils, markers, crayons, etc.
Pros:
We’ve actually kept them organized since last summer and they stay out of reach from Brock.
Cons:
The boxes have been difficult for Kayla to get out on her own and it hasn’t been very easy to get what they need without our help. Good idea, but not necessarily working effectively for our family. It’s more aggravation than anything – at least for me and Brian.
On the other side of the kitchen I have a cabinet full of jars.
Remember that summer I was pregnant and ate nothing but peanut butter??? Yep.
I found a variety of jars with the labels already removed.
Then, I got all of our coloring pieces down from the cabinet.
Markers, pencils, crayons – meet your new home. Jars!!!!
Oh, how pretty!!!
These are way easier for our girls to use (without fussing and fighting) and for them to get down on their own and use without me having to mess with the annoying boxes.
Now, back to the white Christmas tree cabinet.
The drawers all hold their coloring books, stickers, etc. My end result goal is to have a wall cabinet above this shelf to hold all of the pretty colorful jars. BUT – I haven’t found exactly what I’m looking for yet and I don’t want to settle.
So, for now – they are going on top.
The real test will be if Brock can reach these. I’m seeing a shelf in our near future, ha!
That’s it for today’s Christmas tree cabinet turned coloring station in progress #makeovermonday!
