One thing I’ve been able to figure out about my life: painting is therapy.
Especially painting furniture.
And with a day like today, I needed some therapy. Anybody relate??
Too many times I put off projects that are going to take too long because I won’t have enough time to finish them – especially when I’m working on something that I’m using for the blog and a #makeovermonday post.
I’ve put off this bedroom vanity that belonged to Glennie the Great for so long – for that very reason.
Today – I seriously needed to paint because my mind needed time to decompress. Even though I got home after 5pm, it was time for this project to begin.
Brian took the kiddos to the park while I put dinner in the oven and headed upstairs to get started.
I used my trusty Valspar Latex Exterior Primer – straight off the shelf at Lowe’s in white.
The first coat went straight on in about 45 minutes.
Note: I don’t sand. I don’t even clean and wipe off dust (shhhhh, don’t judge).
I just grab my paint and my brush and my old blue beach towel and paint.
That coat dried while we ate dinner and then I came back to work while the kiddos got baths.
This project isn’t finished, but that’s the beauty of real life.
The side panels and inside panels all still have 1 coat and that is OK. I refuse to stress tonight about sending you something in progress.
Just think, I’m so close to having a finished product and that makes me happy.
Stay tuned! This project to be continued.
Have a project you’ve been putting off because it seems like too much?
Start small. Start now.
You’ll be that much closer to finishing and perfection is seriously overrated š
