Every week, we gather our kids from school and set out for a #funfriday adventure! It’s been over 2 years in the making and I’m pretty sure this is a tradition that will continue long after I’m gone (at least I hope, ha!).
Today’s adventure: teach the kiddos that giving back is FUN too!
I picked the girls up a few hours early and they came home to work on a project while I fixed dinner.
One of our dear friends from church got some not so good health news this week. We offered to bring her dinner tonight and the girls made her a card for every day over the next week. They even labeled them:
I mean really? Who wouldn’t smile when they see these letters???
After dropping off dinner to our sweet friend, we came back home and worked on another project to give back.
My friend Lucy posted this on Facebook several weeks ago:
This hit me hard. They didn’t have enough water or snacks to hand out. And then a couple of days later Kylie told me on the way home that it made her sad to know people in this world didn’t have food to eat (she didn’t know anything about Lucy and her project to help the homeless of Charlotte).
I knew exactly what we needed to do.
We’ve been gathering snacks and supplies and also handbags and purses I don’t need anymore from around the house.
Tonight – we got to work on making 21 snack bags for Lucy and her daughters to hand out.
Brock thought it was a TON of fun, obviously. But, he mainly made a mess while we worked.
And there ya have it! 21 bags packed with water and snacks for Lucy to distribute on her next trip downtown!
If you live local and want to help, Lucy would be happy to accept any donations you may have.
Not local? Find a homeless ministry in your own town and see how your family can do a project to help!
