#1wordwednesday / when I prefer non-waiting – and God says, “WAIT.”

the daily Starr blog Starr haigler 8

Sometimes I prefer non-waiting.

Don’t you?

In line at the store, in traffic during rush hour, food to be prepared, etc.

Waiting is for the birds…most days anyways.

But sometimes, God has a plan for us to WAIT.

Waiting – that feels like a theme for my life.

Some times when I want to hurry up and get on with the next adventure, God simply whispers to my soul, “Wait.”

If we look back throughout the Bible – God ordered divine waiting, over and over. Like that quote above says, not just a day or two, but for YEARS, until God was ready for them to act.

Think about Noah – he started building the ark YEARS before the rain began to fall. Think anyone made fun? Think Noah doubted and thought about giving up? Probably so.

Abraham – oh goodness. He waited 100 YEARS to have a son. Now, that’s some serious waiting. He should get an award in waiting.

As for me, I’ve barely waited 2 weeks to hear back on something that I’m super anxious and nervous about related to our farm property dream.

That sounds ridiculous to even type.

Abraham waited 100 years and I’ve waited 2 weeks.

Maybe 2 weeks isn’t so bad after all.

I’ve prayed hard on this topic. I’ve even come up with what my next step should be if I don’t hear anything back.

But, I feel God urging me to simply WAIT.

That, I can do.

This song sums it all up perfectly:

  1. Waiting is HARD, I know! But waiting is also perfect. It’s perfect because it’s NOW God’s turn to show up and show out. You’ve done what he asked you to do, now let Him work. It’s much sweeter when you do what you’ve been asked and then wait, watch and pray AND then see the hand of God at work in this right before your eyes. Praying for your waiting to be sweet and instead of anxious.

  2. Oh I know how hard waiting is!! I’ve waited 10 years to have a child of my own and by God’s grace in September I will bring home the most perfect little one in the whole world! Waiting is hard, exhausting and downright frustrating. The song While I’m waiting from fireproof has been played over and over so I can remember to continue to live, love and serve him while I’m waiting:)
